On May 20, the First Chinese Calligraphy Competition organized by CZU Confucius Institute at the Bolivar University of Venezuela ended successfully. Based on ancient poetry, students chose calligraphy and painting to express their love for Chinese characters. Nearly one hundred pieces of calligraphy were received from students inside and outside Bolivar University. The Vice President of Bolivar University highly appreciated the competition. Combining with the results of public review and vote, 1 first prize, 2 second prizes and 5 third prizes were awarded. Local Chinese enterprises provided souvenirs to winners.
The Calligraphy Competition not only allowed Venezuela students to appreciate the charm of Chinese characters and the beauty of Chinese poetry, increasing their understanding of traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy, but also cultivated their interest in traditional Chinese culture and increased online communication and interaction between teachers and students during the Covid-19 pandemic, promoting cultural exchanges between China and Venezuela.
